Made in Bangladesh

In the beginning of November 2013 The Tazreen garment factory in Dhaka/Bangladesh burned down to the ground. More than 100 people died because the safety inside this factory was terrible, no emergency exits, closed doors, fabric everywhere and many more reasons. I researched what I could do and how I could help as a designer. In March 2014 I took off to Dhaka to research inside the factories, to see the singing and talk to the workers. When I visited several factories I found out that the signing that existed was very unclear and chaotic. 80% of the workers is illiterate and the signs are written text and not based on images.
The final design was a new visual communication system for fire safety inside the factories. I returned to Dhaka and worked to execute the design inside a factory.
